State Relations

State Relations serves as the primary liaison between the University of Maryland and the legislative and executive branches of Maryland government, including the Maryland General Assembly, the Office of the Governor, the state agencies and other relevant units of state government. The State Relations team also works closely with other universities and higher education groups in Maryland.

Faculty and staff that are interested in obtaining federal or state funding for university initiatives are required to follow this guidance.

MPowering the State (MPower) is a collaboration between the state of Maryland’s two most powerful public research engines: the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) — to strengthen and serve the state of Maryland and its citizens.

Through two distinct programs—UMD Champions and the Terp Advocacy Network—the network works to empower alumni and supporters to raise their voices on behalf of the University of Maryland.
